Plus Size / Telfar

The relationship between Plus Sizes & Fashion.

I’ve always had trouble finding representation for the trends and aesthetics I indulge in being a black & plus sized. Simply finding clothes for back to school shopping used to be the most stressful time for me… leaving me to wonder “what can I do?”

As time progressed and the fashion world began to gain insight on what representation means I began to see more people that looked like me but it still felt very minimal. These stores started extending their sizing list but let’s be honest… these clothes SUCK! Where is the real inclusivity? The clothes that fit all people? The campaigns that represent everyone without it being motivational? Just a normal campaign/clothes that represent everyone without doing the absolute most. And lastly, the clothes that don’t make me look like Miss Mary Mack…. Ion like dettttttt

Brands like telfar for example do the jobbbb for me! I feel represented (along with feel prideful in my blackness) and it never feels like a “you can do it too big girlll” it just feels natural and uplifting (without doing the most) this is something I would love to see more… high fashion… cutting edge.. DIFFERENT! Telfar is constantly breaking barriers and shaking up the fashion world (AS THEY SHOULD) but now my question is…. How hard would this be for everyone to do this?(regarding sizing not artistic ability & design) And I don’t mean add 1 or 2 plus sized looks because you feel like you have too…. Be real…

In the future I wanna me more rolls, knock knees, big backs, short double neck, fashion forward people… and myyyyyy people on the runway. It’s time
